The Regent Prep football team dominated opponents all season en route to the State runner-up title last December.
On April 12, it appeared the football team became the Regent soccer team and took care of Wagoner’s soccer squad by a 5-0 score.
It was a key district contest for both teams. Regent’s win clinched the district title while the Bulldogs need to win out to insure a spot in the playoffs.
“They were so much bigger and stronger than we were,” said Wagoner coach Brandon Carr. “It kind of took a toll on us mentally and physically.”
Regent may have been stout in appearance, but did a lot of things right.
“They were technically very sound, too,” Carr added.
The loss followed a nice 5-4 home win against Catoosa on Tuesday, April 9.
The Bulldogs got three goals from Ryan Dumond. Jaden Snyder and Wesley McKee added single scores, too.
The week ended with Wagoner’s record at 9-3 overall and 3-2 in district action.
The Bulldogs close out the district schedule on Thursday and Friday with home games. Riverfield Country Day School of Tulsa invades on Thursday while Dove Science of Tulsa hits the Odom pitch on Friday.
The season closes out with a non-district road game at Westville.
